We are just extending the palette of RaxSki models by a fat big-mountain ski for extreme freeriding.
"Big Rax" is wider than all known skis (14cm under foot, 6.5 to 9cm are usual) and can float on powder like a surfboard on the waves.
Everything is still top secret and waiting for powder to come in the Alpes. We will reveal more details then. "Big Rax" is to replace our model "Boarder".
There were just extreme carvers and boarders at its cradle. It is the black ski in the middle, model "Rocker" is the left one, model "Skater" is the right one, with two "Jokers" extreme right and left..
The fortune of the RaxSki has started on summer-ice field of the Raxalpe in the late afternoon of Sept 1, 2008. The Hack Company has just manufactured the very first piece of RaxSki. I mean the piece, not the whole pair! The other piece has somehow melted in the press-machine. So I started testing with an old ski under my left foot. But the new RaxSki under my right foot carved in the steep ice like an ice skate!!! That was it.
I could not stop testing as long as I could see these beautiful carved traces in the dark. Descending back to the valley at night I knew that the new ski for hard pistes was born that day.
Back to the present time: in October 2011 we are just starting our new model "Big Rax".
This is a message to all of you, who demand more adrenalin and speed: the very first prototypes of a new big RaxSki are to emerge in about a week. They will be nearly as wide underfoot as a race snowboard. Everything is still secret and we will unveil more after the first tests on a glacier. "Big Rax" shall replace our model "Boarder".
Forget the sad fact that the skiing season is over. With RaxSki you can ride all the year round - on a glacier or in the last steep couloir with narrow strip of "firn" snow in it. Sandy couloirs on Sinai peninsula or just steep grassy slope somewhere are all best suited for "raxing".
Like at Metro Ski Show in London and at SportLife in Brno, the Skirax/Peterka tried to ban us from ISPO 2011 with all legal and illegal means. But all attempts of Skirax have failed and we could demonstrate our RaxSkis and show our video clip all the 4 days without any disturbance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PE0crGKnqg We had ten times as much visitors at our booth as our competition Skirax.
AndersR from Norway has invented this slogan "Just Rax It" and published it on Norwegian freeride forum www.friflyt.no on Feb 5, 2011.
January 28, 2006, near the top station of the Rax cable car. I was just strapping on very strange skis. They were bent up just behind the binding. Even worse, something like guiding fins were looming from ski tails.
I was not sure whether these "skis" would allow for parallel turns. If not I would somehow slip down on ski boots to the valley 1,000 m below me.
Around me there were just huge heaps of snow covering little trees to witness the world premiere of "the ski with rear fins for direction control" - the RaxSki.
So I pushed off in the powder couloir and about 100 m farther I realized that these skis were actually turning , turning so easy and damned fast!!
Amazed by this unexpected success I made another prototype with bigger fins till next Saturday - that`s the one on the photo.
The 3rd prototype was already equipped with huge rear fins and allowed me to ride down the Rax couloirs faster than other freeriders and boarders.
This made me change my life and -as the first step- find the address of Austrian patent authority in the telephone directory and start learning the strange language of patents. In less than one month I applied for my 1st Austrian patent (March 14, 2006).
Then the powder snow turned into a hard crust and my ski invention was helplessly sliping on the ice.
I needed two years and 26 prototypes to solve this problem. Only a new central fin, mounted in the axis of the ski just few centimeters behind the ski boots, lets you ski down hard and icy slopes as safely as an ice skate.
This high-grip version of RaxSki (having beside side-wall fins just one central fin located very near the ski boots) made me apply for my second Austrian patent in March 2008 and finally extend it to the European patent. The name of our products -RaxSki- was registered by European OHIM on Jan 14, 2011 as our trademark, valid in the whole Europe.
When people ask "Have you invented these RaxSkis just alone?" I will tell them the truth and reply NO.
Yes, I have worked on new, better skis since I was 12 years old but in last 5 years I have repeatedly had good luck, good fortune or helpful goddess - as you like!
If there were no powder snow in first weeks of my testing, if I had not found aluminium L-profiles in a supermarket to be used to fix the ski tail to the ski base, if the patent authority had not friendly helped me with my first application, if I could not test my prototypes on absolute ice in US and France - I WOULD GIVE UP!
But the most surprising fact was, that in 100 years of skiing history I was the first one to use rear fins for direction control. In fact, I have done nothing else but married the ski with the ice skate - is that so unthinkable?
you will find the RaxSki Team in Austrian Alps every weekend.
On February 6.- 9. we are showing RaxSkis on ISPO Munich, hall A4, booth 102B, just between ski factories like Fischer, Atomic and Head. The City of Munich is providing an artificial snow slope at Wittelsbacher-Platz (Snow City). You can try RaxSkis there every evening till 8pm.
Try this Austrian invention at Semmering and Stuhleck Dec 11-12.

Thank you all for your questions and your engagement in finding the facts about this ski revolution. Kids were even more interested than others. Each child was magically attracted by the Mini-Rax.
This generation will make the RaxSki big.
Just step in and feel the high-grip of the RaxSki. Do not ask whether it is allowed or not.
Our stand 161 in Olympia Grand Hall, London, October 20 - 24.
Next year we will arrange a steep dry slope to give everybody the opportunity to test the RaxSki and feel the difference.
"This year I had the greatest time ever in my skiing life.
I was the frist person in California to get a pair f Raxs
and I never want to ski anyhing else."
(The very first RaxSkis appeared in California
in March 2010, ordered by John Urabec.)
The shortiest RaxSki, model "Joker"
is just starting its production at the ski factory Sporten.
The Joker is small yet sharp!
On hard groomed runs it can keep track like an ice-skate
and turn as easily and precisely.
In the steeps the Joker is still riding close to the fall line,
while other skis and snowboards are just skidding aside on their edges.
With "Joker" under your ski boots you will certainly shock all around
...and even yourself as you will be able to ride down slopes
you have ever dreamed of.
Now you can find the best snow conditions at Hochkar/Austria (both groomed runs and backcountry) The RaxTeam offers a free testing there on April 17.- 18, 2010 Mobile +43 650 5252 550 (Tom)
And at the next weekend April 23.-25 we will ride for TV-cameras at Obertauern All friends of RaxSki are welcome there.
Are you depressed when the last ski-resort closes ? Step in the RaxSki and ride down narrow snow-strips surrounded by alpine meadows. Well, this ski was made for sliding down everywhere, on sand dunes, grass or glaciers
